Brotherly Love

Don and Jeff have been training to run the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC, and that's just what they did this weekend. We met Jeff and Julie in DC on Friday afternoon and it was raining. After we walked (in the rain) to our hotel we took the metro to the expo where we walked around for a couple of hours. Saturday we did a little sight seeing, and the weather was beautiful. We went to the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, and the Arlington Cemetery. We were pretty tired from all the walking so we went back to the hotel to relax and watch a few football games.

The big day was finally here; Don and Jeff woke up early to get to the starting line by 7:30 am. It was a little chilly in the morning, but it turned out to be a perfect day for a 26.2 mile run! Julie and I took the metro to see the boys at mile 9, 13, and 22. Congratulations to Don and Jeff finishing in 4 hours 1 minute and 35 seconds!! I am so proud of my husband for his dedication and for accomplishing such a long run! It was so cool watching Don and Jeff run this marathon together, and we all had a great time together. After the race we went back to the hotel and got our luggage then had dinner at the metro station before going to the airport. We flew to Atlanta where we had a layover, but we missed our connection so we stayed the night at a hotel. The earliest flight was at 7:30 this morning, and we got into San Antonio at 9. We could have done without the last part of the trip, but we got home safe and all three of us slept the entire plane ride. View Album for more pictures.
