Bolder Boulder

Over Memorial Day weekend Don's company, USAA, was sponsoring the Bolder Boulder 10k in Boulder, Colorado. This race had about 50,000 participants either running or walking. I have a few good friends (who I played basketball with) still living in Fort Collins so Don found me a cheap ticket and Cadynce and I flew out Saturday morning at 6:30. Don took all our luggage on the corporate jet so all I had was Cadynce and her diaper bag. I was able to check her car seat and stroller at the gate and she sat in my lap on the way there. She had a great first flight and slept the whole way there except while she was messing her diaper. Once we got to Denver we rented a car and drove to our hotel in Boulder where we got settled in and rested a while before going to visit Don at work. After Don was done working we went shopping at the mall and had dinner at PF Chang's.

Sunday we got up and had breakfast together and when Don left for work Cadynce and I got ready and drove up to Fort Collins. I went to my friend Shannon's house where we hung out for a while before we drove up to horsetooth. I wanted a few pictures of Cadynce and I and the foothills. Next, we drove by our old house, our dorm and drove through campus reminiscing our college years. We met up with Heather and Jacque (who are also two of our former teammates) at Old Chicago's for dinner and we had blast catching up on each others lives' and getting updates on other former teammates. Jacque's son Owen is two weeks older than Cadynce so it was fun seeing little Owen and Cadynce together (even though they both slept through dinner). I guess I'll have to fly out for the Bolder Boulder every year so we can all get together. View Album for more pictures.

Monday was the race so Don had to leave really early that morning to work. After the race they were having a Memorial Day ceremony so Cadynce and I got our stuff packed up and in the car and headed to the football stadium to meet Don for the ceremony. Don got us a VIP pass so we got to be in the club level where it was inside, air conditioned, and lots of free food. We hung out for a while then Cadynce and I left for the airport. Cadynce once again did great on the flight, but this time she was awake almost the entire time. I got lucky this flight because there was an empty seat next to me so I left her in her car seat. We were in the very last row and those seats do not recline so it would have been a long flight if I had to hold her. View Album for more pictures.

Six Weeks Old

I can hardly believe Cadynce is 6 weeks old. She is growing and changing every day and as you can see she has finally started to smile. And it's not the 'I just pooped my pants' smile, it's a real smile and I just can't get enough of it. Occasionally she adds a little giggle which melts my heart. View Album for more pictures.

My 1st Mother's Day

On my first Mother's Day we got up at six o'clock in the morning to go eat breakfast before the big rush. It was my first time showing up to a restaurant before it was open. We had a wonderful breakfast then went home and got ready for church. Don got me a coffee mug with a picture of Cadynce and I on it. I think Don was hoping this would turn me into a coffee drinker!! Aunt Cat and Chase

Last but certainly not least, Catherine and Chase came to visit. This was an exciting trip for Chase since it was his first time flying on an airplane. The first night they were here we went to a WNBA game and we were very impressed with the San Antonio Silverstars. The next day we went downtown to the Alamo and riverwalk where we had lunch then walked up and down the river. The weather was beautiful and there weren't many people on the river. MiMi is back

Rhonda came back for a long weekend right after my mom and Jill left. Cadynce had been spitting up quite a bit so Rhonda came with me to the doctor and then we were sent to the hospital to get her tested for reflux or a possible block in her intestines. I was so glad I didn't have to go by myself. Cadynce had to drink some barium while being x-rayed and we got to see her organs at work. The doctor said she was anatomically perfect but she did have reflux. Cadynce was such a good patient and didn't make a peep the whole time. We had to start her on medication which she will continue to take until she grows out of this condition. We spent the rest of the weekend at Chipotle or shopping. We also had Cadynce's pictures taken professionally at our house and we plan to use those pictures to decorate her room. View Album for more pictures.

Grandma Carol and Aunt Jill

My mom and Jill flew out to visit just two weeks later for a long weekend. We did a lot of shopping and of course went downtown to the riverwalk and the Alamo since this was Jill's first visit to San Antonio. Fiesta was just finishing up so while we were downtown so was everyone else in the state of Texas. Jill doesn't feel the need to go to Mexico now; she said this was close enough. While we were downtown we toured the Alamo and went for a tour boat ride on the river. My mom loves the tours!! View Album for more pictures.

Grandmas come to town

After having Cadynce on Tuesday the two proud grandmas decided they couldn't wait to see their grand-daughter so they bought a flight the night she was born to come see us that weekend. Unfortunately because of weather their flight was cancelled and they couldn't fly out until Saturday. They spent the weekend with us and took turns holding their grand-daughter as much as possible. While they were here they made us several meals and froze them so I didn't have to make dinner for a month...I sure appreciated that. (For some reason I lost all desire to cook while I was pregnant and poor Don had to eat chicken chunks almost every night for dinner). The day before my mom and Rhonda left they cleaned the house and boy did it need it. I never had the nesting part of pregnancy where you want your house to be spotless before the baby comes. I sure loved having them both here hanging out and not to mention the cooking and cleaning they did. View Album for more pictures.

Heading for Home

After spending 48 hours in the hospital it was time for us to go home and introduce Cadynce to her new sisters...Hoosier and Roxy. They weren't quite sure what to think about Cadynce, but Don let them know they were not to touch her. They did much better than we thought they would and actually warmed up to her pretty fast. Here's the Story...

After a pretty uneventful 10 months it was getting close to my due date of April 14, 2007. I woke up April 10 which was a Tuesday morning and went to work at 9am feeling a little uncomfortable. At about 12:00pm I decided to leave work early and go home to rest. After eating lunch the discomfort continued and I decided I should be safe and call Don to come home. When Don got home I was half on the bed and half on the floor swaying. He asked what he could do to help and I told him to leave me alone and don't talk to me (in a very loving way). Shortly after Don got home I started feeling contractions in my back and they were much more uncomfortable. After a few contractions in my back Don said they were 3 minutes apart and we needed to get to the hospital. We grabbed our bags, put the dogs in their cage, and hopped in the car. It was about a 25 minute drive to the hospital and I had contractions the entire way there. Don asked if I wanted to be dropped off at the emergency room, but I told him he could park and we could walk in. We finally arrived at the nurses station and they said there were no rooms ready so we would be placed in a triage room with several others. I found myself again half on the bed and half on the floor while the nurse kept asking me questions I didn't care to answer. I finally had to lay on the bed so they could examine me to see how dilated I was and the look on the nurses face said it all. That's right, I showed up at the hospital 10cm and ready to push. They immediately got me to a room and said when you feel the urge to push go for it. I pushed for one hour and delivered our beautiful girl Cadynce Noelle Clark at 6:14pm. She was 6 lbs 6oz and 20 inches long. View Album for more pictures.

The next day I was feeling really good and decided to take a nap since I didn't sleep the night before. When I woke up I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. I thought for sure if anything was going to be sore it would be my legs, but my arms, shoulders, and back was where I felt it.

Don stayed with us on the chair that pulled out into a bed and would get up in the morning to go home and take care of our dogs. The chair couldn't have been that uncomfortable because when Cadynce would wake up screaming and crying in the middle of the night he didn't even blink and it took me a good 5 minutes to get myself out of bed.
