Presents from us

We had Cadynce open her presents from Don and I on Monday so Cadynce could play with her new toys for a few days before flying back to Indiana.  We set her vanity by the tree and let her come downstairs and find it set up.  Next, she opened up her makeup kit and freaked out.  I couldn't open it fast enough.  She loves to blow dry her hair and put on fingernail polish.  Roxy is also getting her toenails painted now.  She loves to sit at her vanity, look in the mirror, and play with her makeup.  We also got her a tee ball set so she was running back and forth between putting on her lipstick and swinging the bat.  She really didn't want any help on swinging the bat and wanted to do all by herself.  View Album for more pictures.  Click here for videos.

Santa Claus

We took Cadynce to see Santa yesterday, and it went just as we expected.  She was terrified!  She liked looking at Santa from far away and she loves talking about Santa, but sitting on his lap was a different story.  As you cans see in the picture she cried, and who doesn't want a picture of their child crying on Santa's lap?  After the picture Santa gave Cadynce some jingle bells so at least it wasn't all bad.

Happy Thanksgiving & Anniversary!

We hosted our first Thanksgiving dinner this year.  Don and Rhonda flew out to spend the holiday weekend with us.  Rhonda and I spent the morning in the kitchen making all kinds of good food, and the boys watched football and entertained Cadynce.
Don and I took part in black Friday this year.  We left the house at 5am and drove to the outlet malls and shopped until we dropped.  Grandpa and Mimi got to watch Cadynce most of the day while we were gone.  It sure was great to get out, and the best part was that we didn't have to pay our babysitters!  Our four year anniversary was also on Thanksgiving this year so it was nice to get away for the day.  Cadynce loved having her Grandpa and Mimi here.  She loved all the extra attention, hugs, and kisses!  It was so nice to have family here for the Thanksgiving weekend!  View Album for more pictures.

Jeff and Julie Visit

Jeff and Julie flew out to visit this weekend.  Don and Jeff ran the half marathon together on Sunday.  They did great running it in 1 hour and 41 minutes.  Julie was the navigator and we got to see them 4 times.  Cadynce loved having her Uncle Jeff and Aunt Julie here.  She did a lot of showing off for them.  We had a great time hanging out and we enjoyed eating dinner at Saltgrass and Mamasitas.  We also went bowling on Monday morning before they had to fly back to cold Indiana.  View Album for more pictures.  Click here for videos.

What a Day!!

Saturday was a big day for Cadynce.  In the morning we went to a petting zoo that's really close to our house.  She got to hang out with the goats, pet little ponies and donkeys, feed rabbits, look at pigs, and finally she got to ride a horse.  Boy did she love that.  As she was riding she would say "my horse" and did not want to get down.  She did so good holding on to the saddle.
After nap time we picked up Ricky and went to the Air Show at Lackland Air Force Base.  We went to see Ricky's Squadron where they had food and fun for the kids.  We ended up staying there to watch the air show.  It was awesome!  Ricky also took us to look at the F-16 jet, which is the jet he is currently flying, and we got to climb up and sit in it.  That was awesome!  Cadynce was so excited to touch the airplane.  It was a long, fun-filled day.  View Album for more pictures.  Click here for videos.

Happy Halloween!

We weren't too sure how Cadynce's first year of trick or treating was going to go, but we found out that she loved being a Monkey.  We gave the costume a try earlier in the day when we went to Blake's house to take some pictures of the kids dressed up.  She did not want to put the costume on, but once I got it on her she went right into character.  She loved looking at Blake in his Elmo costume.  They also liked that we called them George and Elmo.  We went outside to take some pictures then we let them run up and down the driveway.  They ran in the driveway for a good half hour.
When it was time to get Cadynce in her George costume for tick or treating, she came running from the kitchen all excited, then she fell and busted her lip.  That was not a real good start to the evening.  Once we stopped the bleeding, we gave her a popsicle which made her feel much better.  She got a nice fat lip to show off.  Cadynce had a blast running from house to house.  I think half of the fun was that she got to run in the street!  She only wanted to go to the houses with pumpkins so she could touch them.  We only went out for about a half hour then put her to bed, and Don and I handed out candy the rest of the evening.  View Album for more pictures.  Click here for videos.

South Texas Maze

Saturday night we went to the South Texas Maze in Hondo, Texas.  We hadn't heard anything about this place, but we decided to give it a try.  We all had a great time.  Cadynce saw the goats and immediately starting running for them.  She was trying so hard to hug them through the fence.  We walked around looking at everything they had, then we sat down and ate dinner.  We decided to walk the corn maize before it got dark and Cadynce thought it was so cool running through there.  It took us about 45 minutes to make it to the end.  The last thing we did was the hay ride.  Cadynce was enjoying watching the tractor, but it was the cows that we saw that got her really excited.  She started yelling "cow"  "moo" and waving to them.  It was really cute.  She talked about those cows all the way home.  Sunday we went and picked out a pumpkin and took it home and carved it.  We walk around the neighborhood every day looking at everyone's pumpkins.  View Album for more pictures.  Click here for videos.

18 Months Old

I can hardly believe Cadynce is 18 months old now.  She is growing up so fast, but her hair is still lagging behind!  We went walking on some trails today at the park, and Cadynce had such a great time just being able to walk and run around on her own.  She found her two favorite rocks that she held on to, and she didn't even let go of them when she fell.  She took several good falls and only walked away with a scratch on her elbow (which she is very proud of).  If you didn't know already, Cadynce is obsessed with elbows!  Everywhere we go she points out elbows and she'll touch them if we're close enough.  View Album for more pictures.

Colorado Trip

We had a really great trip to Colorado Springs this weekend.  Cadynce just keeps getting better and better every time we fly.  We got there Friday morning and took our time getting to the Springs.  When we got there we went to the Academy gift shop then we stopped by the athletic facility to see some people Don knows.  Saturday was game day.  Cadynce got to see some airplanes fly over right before the game started.  It started raining in the fourth quarter so we left a little early and unfortunately Air Force lost to Navy.  It was a lot of fun being able to take Cadynce to the game with us.  Sunday we didn't leave until the evening so we took our time and let Cadynce nap at the hotel before we left for Denver.  Before going to the airport we went to the Denver Zoo, and it was a really great zoo.  It started to rain right when we got there, but being Colorado we knew it would only rain for 15 minutes so we waited it out.  We were able to get so close to the animals which made a big difference for Cadynce.  It was a great trip, but we're glad to be home.  View Album for more pictures.

Indoor Playland

Today Nicole and I took the kids to an indoor playland, and they had a blast.  When we first got there, they both just ran around unsure of what to play with first.  Cadynce's favorite things were the roller coaster and the big slide.  I think they managed to play with every toy in the place.  View Album for more pictures.

Go Silver Stars!

On Saturday we went to the San Antonio Silver Stars game (they are the WNBA team here).  It was a great game, and they won with a last second shot (in case anyone cared).  Cadynce loved watching the Coyote mascot, and she knew where he was at all times.

We got Cadynce a potty chair and her very own car this weekend.  She's pretty obsessed with the car door, and she loves that she can get in and out by herself.  View album for more pictures.

We went to the zoo on Sunday, and every time we go the lions are sleeping so that's what Cadynce talks about.  We also made a trip to The Bass Pro-shop to see all the fake animals...that was a big hit.

First Time Bowling!

We went bowling with the Felkers this weekend, and we decided to let the kids have a little fun too.  They had so much fun being at the bowling alley, and they loved getting to roll the bowling ball.  Right after they would roll it, they would turn around and start running.  We had to remind them each time to watch the ball so they could see the pins being knocked down.  Still a little young, but we all had a great time watching them.  View Album for more pictures.

A Trip to the Park

The weather has been perfect for outside play, so we met Blake and Nicole at the park.  The kids had fun going down the slide and collecting rocks in their buckets.  View Album for more pictures.

Two Words

A couple days ago, Cadynce put her first two words together..."more water."  Her favorite words to say are "more cookie," but she is also saying "doggy water," "Daddy shoe," "bye Blake," "hi Aubrey," "more milk," and "more stuff" was the new one today...but who's counting?  View Album for more pictures.

Happy Birthday Namah!

My mom wanted Cadynce and I to come for a visit as a birthday gift, so that's just what we did.  My sisters and I all pitched in for the plane ticket.  It also worked out great that Don was able to fly home so we could all be there to support Don's dad during his surgery.  View Album for more pictures.

Cooling down!

It's been so hot here in San Antonio that we've been using the pool quite often.  Cadynce loves the water, and she really loves to walk around and stomp her feet in the water.  After going to the pool and getting her back into her clothes, Don and Cadynce went outside to swing.  That turned into Cadynce getting in the dogs water bowl and dumping water all over herself.  We took her dress off and turned on the sprinkler for her, and she had a blast!  View Album for more pictures.

Hoop It Up!

We got Cadynce a big girl basketball hoop, and we tried it out last night for the first time.  She's a natural!  I don't know who had more fun with it, Cadynce or Don and I.  View Album for more pictures.

What's new with Cadynce?

One of Cadynce's favorite things to do is feed the dogs.  That is her job every morning and evening.  After she sets their bowls down, she can hardly wait for them to finish so she can pick them back up.  Unfortunately, Hoosier eats her food as slow as possible.  Cadynce also loves to watch Curious George (which shouldn't be a surprise seeing how she loves monkeys.)  Cadynce has developed quite a vocabulary in the past two months.  She is saying 60 words now and signing 20.  We just got her a cell phone of her own, and she loves talking on it.  She mostly talks to her friend Blake.  She started saying "me" a couple weeks ago so we started singing songs like 'Jesus loves me' and 'I love you, you love me' and she loves to fill in the word "me" where it belongs.  The picture of Cadynce sitting in her bean bag is where we spend a lot of time.  She loves to sit and read books.

4th of July

We spent our 4th of July at our friends Jeff and Kelly's house.  Cadynce had such a great time playing with Aiden and all of his toys.  We also got to meet the newest member of their family.  Jacob is two weeks old, and when Cadynce saw him she couldn't stop saying "baby."  View Album for more pictures.

New Swing Set

A couple weeks ago Don built Cadynce her very own swing set.  I am so excited to use our swing every day, and all her friends can't wait to come over and use it too.  We just got the swings and once I put Cadynce in, she did not want to get out.  View Album for more pictures.

First Oreo Cookie!

Cadynce had her first Oreo cookie yesterday, and she loved it. She went totally nuts running around the house with chocolate all over her face and a huge smile. This was the first time I had ever seen her show off for the camera the way she did.

Indiana Trip

We flew back to Indiana for 10 days. It was so fun to see Cadynce with her family and calling everyone by name. It took Cadynce a couple days to adjust to the new surroundings, but we got her back on schedule and she did awesome. Cadynce loved playing with her cousins. Every time we go home she grows up a little more. View Album for more pictures.

The Zoo

We met the Felkers at the zoo on Sunday, and Cadynce and Aiden loved seeing all the animals. I think their favorite animal was the monkey. We spent some time at the Tiny Tots area where the kids can run around and play. After closing down the zoo we walked to the beautiful Japanese Tea Garden to take some pictures. Cadynce's New Kitchen Set

We got Cadynce a kitchen set the other day, and she loves it. She loves opening and closing the stove door and putting her play food inside. We turned our loft area into her playroom so this is where we spend all of our time now. View Album for more pictures.

Cookout

Memorial Day Weekend

We took a day trip down to the coast on Friday. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive to Corpus Christi where we made our first stop. We took Cadynce to the Texas State Aquarium, and she loved looking at all the fish. Cadynce napped in the car while we drove to Port Aransas. The beaches were much better in Port Aransas, and Cadynce would have stayed in the water all day. She didn't seem to mind the sand either. We had lunch and dinner at a couple of local places on the water. View Album for more pictures.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! We had so much fun last year we decided to do it all over again this year. We got up at 6am and drove to the Magnolia Pankcake Haus and waited outside until they opened. Cadynce enjoyed walking around outside and waving to all the others who were waiting too. Our breakfast was delicious. In the afternoon Cadynce and I went into Barnes and Noble while Don shopped in the neighboring stores. I tried to read a few books, but all Cadynce wanted to do was walk. Cadynce found all the stuffed animals to her favorite show "The Backyardigans." When Don came in to meet us she had them all out, and she took turns carrying them around the kids section. Daddy's little girl went home with all 5 of them! View Album for more pictures.

Sea World Again

On Friday, Don's work provided lunch at Sea World and a day in the park. We had a blast. After lunch we went to the water park to cool down, and Cadynce loved walking in the water and going through the sprinklers. We visited several of the other animals then headed home for a nap. Grandma Carol & GG Visit

Grandma Carol and GG flew in to visit this weekend. They had fun watching Cadynce walk all day, every day. Friday, I enjoyed running some errands by myself, and that evening Don and I went to a movie. Saturday and Sunday Grandma Carol and GG stayed home with Cadynce while Don and I went shopping for a few hours. Sunday night we all went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside and ate dinner, and the food was great. It was a fun weekend. Don and I enjoyed doing some things we haven't done in the past year. Fiesta!

Last week it was "Fiesta," which is a really big deal in San Antonio. We've never taken part in the festivities, but we did go to the Fort Sam Houston Army Post on Sunday. They were having their own Fiesta. We took Cadynce in her wagon and walked around for an hour listening to live music and letting Cadynce practice walking in her first pair of StrideRite shoes. I'm amazed at how well she walks already; she doesn't fall much for a kid who just learned to walk. She wants to walk everywhere, and she did great walking in the grass. As we were leaving, we passed a park that had a baby swing, so we stopped for a family swing! Cadynce loved it. View Album for more pictures.

Grandpa & Mimi Visit

Grandpa Don and Mimi flew in for the weekend to visit their grand-daughter who just turned one. We went to dinner, did some shopping, and just enjoyed hanging out at home watching Cadyne play. She made some big strides in her walking this weekend, and she also learned to steer her stroller all by herself. That means less work for me and less whining for Cadynce. Cadynce had a great time hanging out with her Grandpa Don and Mimi. View Album for more pictures.

She's the Big One Today!!

We got Cadynce a red wagon for her first birthday and she loves riding around in it. We took a trip to the zoo and looked at all the animals then had a picnic dinner. We were the only people at the zoo which was wonderful. We got to hear the lions roar and see the monkey's eat. View Album for more pictures.

Cadynce's 1st Birthday Party!!

We had a birthday party for Cadynce this afternoon with all her friends. She didn't enjoy her cake like I thought she would, but she really loved putting the icing in her hair. Cadynce has also started walking a little bit. She's taking about 5 or 6 steps and learning how to balance at the same time. View Album for more pictures.

Spring Break: Day 4

We went to the San Antonio zoo for the day, and we got to see so many different animals. We even got to see two giant turtles mating; Alissa wanted to leave and Robbie and Aubrey couldn't stop giggling. Carrie thought it was the nicest zoo she'd ever been to and they are continuing to make it better. They have a new exibit called Africa Live where you can see a hippo up close if you're lucky, and we got lucky because the hippos were at the glass when we got there. The kids had a great time and Cadynce loved watching the big fish. View Album for more pictures.

Spring Break: Day 3

Happy Easter!!! The Easter bunny came to our house to hide the eggs for all the kids. Everyone was up early hunting for their eggs before going to church. After church the kids went upstairs while I hid their Easter eggs from me and set out their baskets full of goodies. After lunch we went bowling then had an Easter dinner at home. Spring Break: Day 2

Saturday was another beautiful day to be outside so we decided to head to our neighborhood pool. The water was really, really cold, but everyone got in and had a great time. The water was warmer than the weather in Indiana so the Capeharts loved it. When the kids were done swimming they played on the playground and shot baskets. We ended the evening cooking out on the grill and making brownies. View Album for more pictures.

Spring Break: Day 1

The Capeharts arrived late Thursday night and were all pretty excited about going to Sea World. We slept in Friday morning and left for Sea World at 11 in our 15 passenger van we rented. We saw three shows, but the most memorable show was definitely Believe. We got there 45 minutes early so we could pick our seats, and we thought we were sitting in the "no splash" section but we were so wrong. We got completely soaked. After the splashing stopped I looked at Cadynce and she was screaming, I looked at Alissa and Aubrey and they were both crying too so we got up and left. We headed to the gift shop so the kids could get new shirts to put on, then we headed to the van for snacks. After our break Alissa went on a roller coaster, Robbie won two stuffed animals, and Cadynce got to crawl around a play area for little ones. We left the park at 8pm. We had a great day at Sea World and all the kids had a blast. View Album for more pictures.

A Day at the Zoo

My friend Nicole and I took Blake and Cadynce to the zoo yesterday, and they were both leaning forward in their strollers pointing at all the animals the whole time we were there. I think they both loved it, and we got a season pass so we plan on taking many trips to the zoo this year. View Album for more pictures.

11 Months Old

I feel like I repeat myself every month, but I can't believe Cadynce is 11 months old now. She is crawling full time now, and spends most of her time pushing her scooter around the living room and the kitchen. She has her routine stop in front of the stove where she can see her reflection and she always points and then waves.

We took some pictures at playgroup this week so you'll get to see all her friends. Cadynce is the second oldest but you would never know. View Album for more pictures.

Grandma's Weekend

Our moms came out for the weekend to visit us, and I don't know who had more fun, Cadynce or our moms. We just hung out at our house all weekend and played with Cadynce, but Don and I had to use our babysitters at least once so we went bowling on Saturday. It was so nice having our moms out for the weekend. View Album for more pictures.

It feels like summer!

It was a beautiful, hot and sunny day so we got the pool out for Cadynce. She had so much fun she didn't want to get out. Hoosier even got in with her, but once Cadynce started splashing Hoosier got out of there. I should also mention that Cadynce started crawling last week and can now pull herself to a stand. She isn't crawling everywhere, but she does crawl occasionally. View Album for more pictures.

She's Mobile!

Cadynce is wanting to walk more and more so I got out her wheels, gave her the keys, and she was off. All day long she walked back and forth in the living room. She had quite a few falls, but after a while she started getting the hang of it. View Album for more pictures.

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a great Valentine's dinner at a Mongolian restaurant called HuHot. Cadynce had a hard time sitting still in the high chair because she was talking and pointing to the kids sitting behind us. She is very social when we're out in public. Thank you Mimi and Grandpa Don for the cute little red dress. View Album for more pictures.

10 Months Old

Cadynce has officially skipped crawling, and she is walking from couch to couch to end table to recliner and anywhere else she can get her hands on. I tried to get some pictures of her top teeth as well; still only three on top. Cadynce has started saying Dada when she sees Don. Every day gets better and better. View Album for more pictures.

More Teeth

Cadynce now has three teeth on top with the fourth almost in and still just the two on bottom. The past four days have been filled with a whole lot of whining and crying while her teeth are pushing through. Cadynce learned what a monkey says while we were at Target a couple days ago so now everytime she sees a monkey (in her book of course) she makes the sound. View Album for pictures.

9 Month Picture

Here are Cadynce's nine month pictures; we thought they turned out great. We had to put her on her belly so she couldn't take her headband off.

It's been quite a month for us. She is moving around pretty good, cruising the couch, saying Mama, ball, and dog. She just started playing peek-a-boo today while eating lunch, and she is getting her two top teeth in too. She also gets her morning workout wrestling her bear. View Album for pictures.

Cadynce's First Word...Ball

This weekend while we were out shopping we went to a Nike store. We passed a basket full of basketballs and Cadynce said "ball" so we let her hold one, and she wouldn't let it go. She took it with her in every store and said "ball" all day long. She loves playing ball with Don. Enjoy the video.

Standing Tall

I got Cadynce a little play table at the resale shop and she stands and plays until her little legs can't hold her any more. When the music plays she starts doing a little head bopping and some booty shaking!
